Project Overview

The Software Process Assistant shall be a suite of tools that NAVSEA Newport's software project teams may utilize for:

process tailoring automation based on user's answers to some basic questions about the project
cost and sceduling estimation tools and tips

using current industry/academic models
utilize organizational empirical data stored in the internal information repository

assistance in the creation of project documentation

templates, based on various standards, and containing basic project information
organizational examples of project documentation

generic software engineering information based on the software engineering body of knowledge
guidance on software engineering training opportunities

internal corporate sponsored
vendor based (tools, methods)
higher education (college, university)

project process maturity status based on the Capability Maturity Model.
organizational roll-up of process maturity status

The goal of this project is to identify the real needs of the actual users and define the various sub-systems, which we expect to be similar to the description above. A storybook shall be developed that shall provide the concept of this system to the customer. Based on customer feedback, we shall prioritize and implement those sub-systems that will fit a 10 August 2000 product completion date.
